Committee roles are appointed through an application process rather than an election, and there is no set time commitment required for these roles.
PARSEC committees are divided into two roles:
Key Role: Committee Chairs are central to PARSEC’s operations and are elected roles as part of the BOD. They oversee the committee’s activities, including recruiting for appointed roles and organizing meetings. They also work closely with other committees and attend Board of Directors meetings to ensure coordinated efforts. Committee chairs require a commitment of 2 years. This ensures stability and continuity in PARSEC’s initiatives.
Appointed Role: An "appointed role" within a PARSEC committee is a specialized position assigned to a member who takes on specific responsibilities that support the committee's objectives. These positions are filled based on the needs of the committee and are crucial for achieving the committee's goals. For appointed roles, the commitment is more flexible and varies based on the specific needs of the committee. Unlike committee chair positions, which require a fixed commitment, appointed roles adjust in scope and time depending on current projects and responsibilities.
