Who Can Join?

All PARSEC members—including practicing PAs and PA students—are welcome to join committees and contribute in a way that fits their expertise and availability.

The only exception is the PA Educator Committee, which is exclusively for PAs in clinical preceptorship and education.

  • Q: How do PARSEC committees work?

    • Each committee focuses on a specific area within PARSEC, working collaboratively to develop initiatives, organize events, and contribute resources. Members can participate in discussions, provide input on ongoing projects, or take on specific responsibilities based on their expertise and availability.

Q: Do I have to apply to be on a committee?

    • Yes, you’ll need to express your interest by submitting an application or reaching out to the committee lead. This helps ensure we align your skills and interests with the right role.

Q: How are committee roles selected?

    • Roles are appointed, not elected. The committee chair and leadership team review applications and assign roles based on experience, interest, and availability. Some positions may require specific skills, while others are open to all members looking to contribute.

  • Q: Is there a time commitment?

    • A: Flexible! Your involvement can be ongoing or project-based, depending on what works for you.

Q: Do I have to attend meetings?

    • A: It depends on the role. Some may require occasional check-ins, but most contributions can be done independently.

Q: Can I step back if my availability changes?

    • Yes! We understand schedules shift. Just let us know, and you can adjust your level of involvement.

  • Q: Can PA students join committees and contribute?

    • Yes! PA students are welcome to join and contribute to all PARSEC committees, except for the PA Educator Committee.

Q: Why can't PA students join the PA Educator Committee?

    • The PA Educator Committee focuses on supporting clinical preceptors and PA educators with resources, networking, and professional development specific to teaching and mentoring. Since this committee is designed for PAs in educational roles, it requires members who are PAs.

Q: Can PA students take on leadership roles within committees?

    • Yes! PA students can apply for any non-restricted committee role and contribute based on their skills, experience, and interest.
